The problem
The room faced a busy London environment and the original sash windows allowed too much sound into the living space. Replacement would have changed the period character, so the brief was to improve acoustic comfort while retaining the existing windows.
The specification
We installed 10.8mm acoustic laminated glass in engineered aluminium frames, measured to the existing openings. The internal system was designed to respect the period window, preserve the original features and provide practical access for cleaning.
Measured result
The client measured a 75% reduction in noise after installation. The result was achieved with the specified secondary glazing system and should be treated as a property-specific outcome, not a promise for every home.
Installation and guarantee
The engineered aluminium frames and acoustic laminated glass were made to the existing reveals. The original Victorian sashes remained in place and the work was completed during a single-day installation. Installation was completed in a single day, and the installed work carries a 10-year guarantee.
